Set it on the floor. It climbs the stud and drills the hole.

Epic Drill Master grips the studs, climbs to the work, levels itself and drills straight through the plate, then comes back down. No ladder goes up to drill.

How it works

1. Set it up.

Stand it in the stud bay. Tell it the hole size, material and location, and it picks its own drilling settings.

2. It climbs.

Two arms push out against the studs, so it holds itself in place with no ladder, lift or fixture. It checks its grip and climbs to the work.

3. It drills and comes back.

It checks its position, drills the hole, senses when the bit breaks through and drives back down.

Why crews want it

Hours back.

A house takes a journeyman and two apprentices a full day of drilling. Once it's in production, Epic Drill Master is projected to save about $742–$850 per house and about $9,460 on a 24-unit building.

Crews stay on the floor.

About 81% of construction fall injuries treated in an ER involve a ladder (NIOSH, 2011 data). With this tool, no ladder goes up to drill.

Straight holes.

It levels itself as it climbs, so holes stay straight and pipe and conduit line up, no matter who's running it.

Built for rough-in.

It carries multiple bit sizes for supply lines and vents, with setups for electrical, low-voltage and HVAC.

Savings are projected estimates at BLS labor rates, not measured results.

I drilled about 15,000 holes by hand, most of them off a ladder. Epic Drill Master is the tool I wanted on every rough-in.

Building the future of rough-in?

Every new building gets drilled for pipe, wire and duct, and crews still do it by hand off a ladder. We're building the tool that takes it off the ladder, starting with plumbing.
